Merry (late) Christmas!

Yes, I know I'm late, but like most people, I was busy on Christmas. It definitely wasn't traditional, but it was fun. So today, I'm going to tell you some really interesting, (weird) facts about Christmas!

1. What color do you always picture Santa in? Red of course. But, apparently, that wasn't always the case. Santa actually used to wear green, blue, and purple. Coca-Cola wanted to advertise Santa in their colors though, and red just stuck.

2. I'm sure you've heard of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph, but did you know that TWO of these guys were supposed to have different names? Yup, that's right. Donner and Blitzen were originally supposed to be Dunder and Blixem. Yes, I know, it's weird.

3. I'm sure you know that the holiday Christmas is a holiday to celebrate the birth if Jesus. But, did you know that Jesus wasn't born on Christmas? He might've actually been born in SPRING! Big difference. What would happen to White Christmas?

4. Everyone's heard of Jingle Bells. But did you know that Jingle Bells was originally meant to be a song for Thanksgiving? It was written by James Lord Pierpont. Who knew?

5. Did you know that mistletoe translates to "dung on a stick?" Yes, I know. It's the weirdest thing. Mistal comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for poop/dung and tan comes from stick. So, dungstick. How romantic.

I hope you enjoyed my completely weird fun facts about Christmas.

Until next time, HO HO HO! - Savi
